| Description: | We are a growing background investigations firm catering to corporate clients.
The ideal candidate will be a problem-solver with good computer skills (especially maneuvering the internet) and above-average intelligence. You must be very detail-oriented to be successful in this position.
We work in a fast-paced office environment with ever-evolving technology. Very strong computer skills are a must for this position!

| Duties: | 1. Manage background investigations files using prescribed methods in compliance with federal laws. (90%)
a. Receive requests for investigations from clients and open investigations files.
b. Order research from vendors, courthouses, and government agencies. Follow up as needed to receive results on schedule.
c. Conduct court research using remote access methods.
d. Review and abstract court records.
e. Contact current and previous employers to verify information provided and obtain additional information concerning candidates. Locate contact information for employers, when necessary.
f. Verify licenses and education claimed by candidates.
g. Draft reports in our online report management system.
2. Assist customers with ordering and understanding background investigations. (5%)
3. Perform other administrative and clerical duties, as assigned. (5%) |
| Qualifications: | • Outstanding Windows-based computer skills. This position requires extensive use of the Internet, courts’ remote access systems, Microsoft Office (Word, Access, Outlook), RightFax, Adobe Acrobat (to create portable files) and other office applications.
• Professional phone skills – friendly, outgoing personality. This position will interview employment candidates, professional references, and former employers – it is very important that this person be very comfortable talking to strangers.
• Professional English grammar, punctuation, pronunciation, and spelling ability. Candidates also fluent in Spanish will be highly regarded.
• Legal secretary or paralegal experience helpful but not required, including:
o Familiarity with the organization of criminal and civil courts’ records.
o Demonstrable understanding of criminal and civil proceedings and disposition meanings.
• Clean criminal history to meet private investigator licensing requirements (no convictions for Class B misdemeanor or higher).
• Minimum two years of college or five years of work experience in a professional office environment required. Business and criminal justice majors have been successful in this position but so have liberal arts majors with good critical thinking and communication skills. |
